Frequenty Asked Questions

Please read our FAQ below.  If your question isn't answered, contact us!

What is your current lead time for new projects?

Our lead time is 1 week for logo design services, 2-3 weeks for custom programming services, and 3-4 weeks for new sites and redesign services.  These are just approximations, so please inquire for a more accurate estimate.

Can you start on my project sooner?

We'd love to start on your project sooner, but we generally can't.  Other clients have already paid deposits and are waiting in line patiently, so we have to ask you to do the same. Keep in mind that busy designers are usually a good sign, and it would be worthwhile to wait for a designer who will do quality work than to hire someone that can fit you in sooner.  (Plan ahead!!)

If you have an absolute emergency, we should be able to accommodate you by scheduling a designer or programmer to work overtime, but emergency rates would apply.

How do I get on your schedule?

First, please fill out our quote request form with a detailed description of your project.  We will generally respond within a few days, sometimes a little longer if we are extremely busy.  We will ask questions if necessary and provide you with a detailed quote, and a projected start date.  If the terms are acceptable you, we will then send an invoice for a 50% deposit.  When the deposit is received, your project will be placed on our schedule.

Can I get a refund on my deposit?

Unfortunately, the answer is no.  Once your deposit has been received, your project is accepted in good faith and we often have to turn other prospective clients away during the time that is scheduled for your project.  Your deposit is a retainer for our time, secures your position in our schedule and covers the costs of preliminary consultation and expertise.

If you need to cancel your project for any reason, you CAN use the deposit toward a different project at a later time.

Am I required to sign a contract?

Most projects are accepted in good faith when the 50% deposit is made.  By making this deposit you are agreeing to hire us for your project, and we are setting aside the necessary resources to complete the project.  If we deem it necessary, we may ask you to sign a contract.

What information do I need to provide you with?

The first rule of thumb is to always provide detailed specifications for your project.  The more details you provide, the faster we can come to an agreeable end result.  We will also ask you provide your site content - we will not write your text.  You know your business better than we do!  If you need assistance, there are companies that specialize in this.

Some of the other things that we may ask you for are: images/photos, logo files, login details for your host, cart, content management system, domain registrar, or merchant account.

Will you provide me with several mockups to choose from?

If you order one of our logo design packages you will receive several unique concepts to work with.  When we are designing a website concept, we try to gather as much information as possible up front so that we get it right the first time.  Generally we're pretty good at figuring out your likes and dislikes, and we're usually pretty on target with our initial concepts.  We will only provide one initial concept, but we will make unlimited revisions until you are pleased with the end result.  If we're way off base and you absolutely hate the entire concept, we'll start over.  The bottom line is that we want you to be happy with the design, and we won't settle for less.

How long does it take to build a website?

Every project is different.  The timeline for your project will depend on several factors including the type of site we're building (static, CMS, ecommerce), the complexity of the design and features, the number of content pages, etc.  Another important factor is timely communication since we rely on your for input and approval at various stages of the process.  If you take a week to respond to a question, the project can be delayed.  So please be prepared to spend a little time working with us since you are vital to the process.

Can I manage my own website once it's built?

In most cases, the answer is YES!  If your site is built with X-Cart or a content management system such as Expression Engine, WordPress or Joomla, you will have access to a web-based administration panel where you can add/edit/delete content including photos and text.  There are also WYSIWYG editors that allow you to format the content without any coding knowledge.

Can we meet in person?

We find that in person meetings generally aren't necessary in our line of work. We have clients all over the world, and we are able to effectively communicate via phone and email.  Our package prices do not include in-person meetings or training, so additional hourly consulting fees may apply if you require a meeting.

Can you provide us with a backup of a site that you designed for us?

In most cases, we do have backups on file for the work that we've done, BUT it is the ultimate responsibility of the client to ensure that their files are backed up.  Since many of the projects that we're hired for only require design services, we might only have design related files in our backup and not necessarily your ENTIRE website. Almost all hosting providers have a backup guarantee, and they should be able to easily restore a backup if a problem arises with your site.  Check with your hosting provider to see what their policy is.

What do I do if my website is offline? Help!

In most cases, if your website is offline it's due to an issue with your web server, so we recommend first contacting your hosting provider.  If you are an existing client and you don't know who your hosting provider is, please contact us and we'll try to help determine this as quickly as possible.  If your host is unable to help, please reach out to us and we'll look into the issue.

Can you recommend a decent merchant account provider?

Our preferred merchant account providers are Authorize.net, and PayPal Pro.

Can you recommend a good hosting provider?

Yes!  We recommend EWD hosting.  EWD specializes in X-Cart hosting and they know what's required to keep your store running smoothly.

Do you work with shopping carts other than X-Cart?

At this time we do not.  X-Cart has been our preferred shopping cart for several years and we work with it exclusively.
